As of January, BMW has reached a new milestone with over 500,000 units from its i-series lineup, consisting of the automaker’s two plug-ins, the i3 and i8.

The i3 was released in its native Germany back in September 2013, with the i8 making its debut in June the following year. Both models have since seen a world-wide release.

It is no coincidence that the 3-series account for a quarter of all BMW. The Sedan and Sports Wagon from the series are especially popular sellers with over 14 million units sold worldwide. 

The current generation BMW X5 has only been out for three years. BMW generally releases a new generation model every five to six years, so the X5 is about halfway through its lifespan. A replacement, though, may come sooner or later as spy photos have captured a new X5 being tested under winter roads.

The new and highly anticipated BMW X5 xDrive40e made its debut to the North American market in October, and reception exceeded expectations. As of December, the plug-in hybrid has sold 285 units. To break down the numbers, 118 X5s were sold in October. November fared even better with 167 units sold. The figures are not in yet for December, but the numbers are expected to be even more impressive due to holiday offers.

WardsAuto has released the top 10 automobile engines for 2016, and the B58, found in the latest BMW 340i, secured a spot on the list.

The BMW X5 SAV is on the rise and has helped the German automaker reach better than expected third-quarter profits. Overall, profit margins have decreased slightly, achieving 9.1 percent profit margins, compared to 9.4 percent the same quarter last year. According to German analyst Sascha Gommel, however, the company is actually performing “slightly better than expected.”

Another analyst, Max Warburton, described the numbers as a “pleasant surprise.”

There have been a lot of discussions regarding the upcoming 2017 BMW 5 series. New images have just surfaced that gives us a sneak peak of the interior. 

The BMW 3-series has always been the German auto maker's flagship model. Since its inception in 1975, more than 14 million units have been sold worldwide. In fact, in some years, the 3-series has accounted for as much 70 percent of total BMW. The model is currently in its sixth generation, and the 2016 BMW 3 series will be seeing quite a few changes with most of the modifications being under the hood. 

For years, rumors have been swirling of BMW releasing an X2. Well, those rumors are finally confirmed with a prototype release of the compact crossover. The X2 is slated for a 2017 release as a 2018 model. It is modeled mostly after the X1, much the same way the X4 is derived from the X3 and X6 concept.

What comes to mind when one thinks of an SUV? Factors like generous cargo capacity and spacious passenger seating may came to mind. Speed, on the other hand, is not something that is normally associated with an SUV. This may soon change, though, thanks to the 2015 BMW x5.
