There have been a lot of discussions regarding the upcoming 2017 BMW 5 series. New images have just surfaced that gives us a sneak peak of the interior.
So what can be concluded by looking at the images? Here is what is known so far based on the photos and confirmation by BMW: there will be a new iDrive system with both touchscreen and gesture-based functions. The iDrive will be a standard feature.
The 5-series' G30/G31 models will also receive some of the interior designs and technology similar to the G11/G12 for the 7-series. This includes AppleCar, wireless phone charging, WiFi Hotsport, fragrance air system, ambient lighting, and Bowers and Wilkins Diamond surround sound system.
The 2017 model will mark the 5 series’ seventh generation and will be unveiled next summer.
The BMW 5 series has been around since 1972 and has become an iconic midsize luxury car in the vehicle's 40 plus year history. It is also the German automaker's bestselling model next to the 3-series and is available in three variants: sedan, gran turismo, and touring.
In addition to the interior, some information has also been released about the exterior. Similar to the 3 and 7-series sedan, the 5 will have a wider double-kidney grille and slimmer headlights.
Under the hood, the 5-series, or the 550i specifically, will utilize an engine that is purportedly a hybrid between a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four and 3.0-liter six cylinder.
