If a brand-new BMW vehicle is not in your immediate future, you might want to consider purchasing a previously owned vehicle. Here are some of the differences between a pre-owned (or used) model and a Certified Pre-Owned BMW.

The CPO Designation

While all pre-owned BMW vehicles are of good quality, they must undergo a rigorous inspection to get the CPO label. This includes having nearly 200 parts closely examined. If any new components are needed, they will be replaced with genuine BMW parts. In addition to the visual inspection, CPO cars are also taken out on the road by certified technicians to evaluate how the engine, brakes, and all electrical systems perform.

Warranty Coverage

Another thing that separates a pre-owned BMW from a CPO model is the warranty coverage. All new cars come with a four-year/50,000-mile warranty, and CPO cars get the remainder of that. If it has expired, an additional one-year warranty starts, and this has no mileage limit.

24/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance

An extra benefit of a CPO BMW is that it comes with 24/7 emergency roadside assistance. This is good for six years from the original in-service date and doesn’t have a mileage limit. You’ll be able to get help for everything including a flat tire, dead battery, or an empty gas tank. If necessary, you can also get your vehicle towed to an authorized BMW service center for repairs.
