Car ownership comes with certain responsibilities, and this includes keeping your vehicle in great shape. When you need to bring in your car for BMW service, you can trust our professionals at our BMW dealership in Asheville. We can tell you exactly how often you should bring in your specific model for routine service.

Oil Changes

3,000 miles used to be the rule of thumb for oil changes, but thanks to improvements in both engine efficiency and oil quality, that’s not necessarily the case anymore. While it’s always important to follow your manufacturer's recommendations, you could probably get your oil changed every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. With that being said, however, it’s still important to get an oil change twice per year.

Tires

The more you drive, the more your tires wear down, which is why they need to be rotated periodically. Having this done whenever you get your oil changed can help you remember. Tires should also be replaced every 20,000 miles or after six years.

Filters

Over time, filters get dirty and need to be cleaned. But eventually, they get so clogged they have to be replaced.

Both fuel and air filters should be changed about every 30,000 miles. However, if you often drive in dry or dusty conditions, the air filter may need to be changed closer to 15,000 miles.

Battery

It’s a good idea to have your battery checked every year just to see what kind of life it has left. Because batteries typically only last up to five years, you might want to think about getting a new one then, even if your battery seems to be fine.

Brakes

Brakes should also be looked at regularly. Your brake pads and shoes should hold up well after 50,000 miles, while rotors can generally last around 60,000 miles.
