It’s always a smart idea to pay close attention to your BMW. Even subtle changes in how it sounds or performs could indicate a problem.
Sometimes, however, it can be obvious when your car needs care, like when the little icons pop up on your dashboard. Some BMW warning symbols are more serious than others, and when you visit BMW of Asheville, we'll tell you which icons are cautionary rather than problematic.
BMW Warning Symbols That Aren’t Cause for Concern
- Seatbelt Reminder. If you see a light on your dashboard that looks like a person with a seatbelt strapped across their chest, your BMW car is just letting you know that you need to buckle up.
- Door Ajar. If you see a symbol of a bird’s-eye view of a car with the doors open, make sure all of your car’s doors are completely closed.
- Gas Pump. This light is telling you that you’re low on gas and that you need to fill up soon.
BMW Warning Symbols You Shouldn't Ignore
- Dripping Oil Can. This light may be related to a lack of oil in your tank. It could also indicate that your car is due for an oil change.
- Engine Block. If your check engine light comes on, this may also be a sign that you need an oil change, but that’s just one of many possible culprits.
- Exclamation Point in a Horseshoe. This warning light is telling you that one or more of your tires has low tire pressure.
While some warning symbols aren’t a big deal, you don't want to neglect others. To make sure your vehicle is in great condition, make an appointment to have it looked at by our service pros at BMW of Asheville. We look forward to working with you soon!
