The German Automaker is leading the way in auto technology innovation. Last year, it released the latest version of its iDrive infotainment system, the iDrive 5.0, for the 2016 model year.

This was followed by the BMW Connected app that enabled remote interfacing between a vehicle and a user's smartphone. Even more recently, the automaker released the iDrive 6.0 for the 2017 BMW 5 series and 2017 BMW X5 series.

The brand just released its newest gadget, the BMW Connected+. This app provides a suite of digital services and is built on the original BMW Connected, which itself was modeled after the BMW ConnectedDrive.

With the original BMW Connected, drivers can lock and unlock their vehicle, operate the AC, set appointment alerts, and submit navigation directions to the infotainment screen, all via smartphone or tablet.

BMW Connected+ is an upgrade. Aside from all the aforementioned functions, users now also have a few other additions. If you forgot where you parked your car, for instance, it will provide walking directions. If you have an appointment, it will also inform you when you need to leave, accounting for both the driving time and the time it takes to walk to your car.

A new on-screen Control Display menu will also provide available parking options at your destination. All phone information can also be shared with friends. If your car is low on fuel, the app will notify you and pinpoint the nearest direction to a gas station while en route to your destination.

Finally, you can connect via Skype on your infotainment screen and use verbal commands to accept or decline meeting invitations.
