The 2017 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is finally here after a long anticipated wait. It is said that the German automaker will position the vehicle between the regular BMW 3 series and BMW 5 series.

So how does it differ compared to the conventional 2016 BMW 3 series? For one, the car is roughly 190 millimeters longer, 17 millimeters wider, and 79 millimeters taller. The grille has also been redesigned and integrates smoothly with the LED headlamps. The bumper has been revised with the fog lamps sitting on two horizontal slats. The LED tail lamps have also been increased in size.

The car is also in the form of a five-door hatchback, which some people might find strange for a BMW vehicle. This is by no means, though, a sluggish wagon.

Much has also been improved in the interior. The upholstery is adorned with leather, while the controls are clad in a chrome garnish. This is complemented by wood-finished panels. The seats have also been raised by about 59 millimeters. The cabin overall is larger, giving driver and passengers additional legroom.

Under the hood is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. It has been hinted, though, that a petrol engine will be available at a later date. For now, at least, only an eight-speed transmission and all-wheel-drive are available, though options may expand at a later date.

The BMW 3 series GT made its debut on October 19th at the Paris Motor Show. An earlier version was also unveiled back in June.
