The BMW M3 is 30 years old, and in honor of the car's 30 decades of excellence, the German automaker will be releasing a limited-edition model.

The special edition is called the BMW 30 Jahre M3, which is German for BMW 30 Years M3. Only 500 of these will be released. Of those, only 150 will make its way to the U.S. This edition will have a few upgrades, including a bump to 444 hp. This is made possible with the inclusion of a 3.0-liter twin turbo inline-six engine. It will also have a Macao Blue exterior. This was a popular BMW car color back in the 1980s. Despite its name, it is not entirely blue. It is best described as being somewhere in the middle between black and grey.

Buyers will have an option between a dual-clutch and three-pedal manual transmission. Both can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in about four seconds. In addition, buyers will also have the option to upgrade to a Competition Package that comes with an adaptive M suspension. This includes special stabilizers, springs, and shocks. The U.S. model will also get some technology upgrades that include a speed limit warning and blind spot monitoring.

As for the interior, it is full of decorative BMW M3 badging. Also, with an upgrade to an Executive package, the car will come with wireless charging, park-distance control, and heated seats and steering wheel.

With only 150 models released in the U.S. it may be difficult to get your hands on one. Don't worry, however, as you can still check out the regular 2016 BMW M3 at BMW of Asheville.
