As part of its revamped 3 series lineup, BMW will be releasing the 320d EfficientDynamics Sport. Best of all, despite its size, it is super fuel efficient and capable of up to 70 MPG while emitting just 103g/km of CO2. The car will be available in both automatic and stick shift.
With the BMW 320d ED, consumers can expect to see all the hallmarks of a sports vehicle, including body-hugging seats, 17-inch wheels, and beefier bumpers.
The power comes from a 2.0-liter turbodiesel, four-cylinder engine that transfers power to the wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 320d reportedly produces 181 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. In addition, it will be able to accelerate from zero to 62 MPH in just 7.5 seconds. It also has a top speed of 146 MPH.
There have also been rumors of BMW releasing a 520d for the 5 series, though that rumor has been denied by company insiders. However, similar copycat models could loom in the near future if the 320d proves popular with consumers.
The EfficientDynamics system is a BMW exclusive designed for improving fuel economy, reducing carbon emissions, and delivering refined handling. The engine is partly crafted with lightweight aluminum to reduce its overall weight. Other benefits include electric power steering, brake energy regeneration, and driving dynamics control with ECO PRO mode.
