The New York Auto Show started off with a bang last week thanks in part to the reveal from BMW.  The company introduced their latest concept vehicle.  The vehicle is the BMW Concept Active Tourer.  It is shaped much like a small crossover SUV and certainly has the exterior curb appeal that we have come to expect from BMW.

But what is underneath the hood of the BMW Concept Active Tourer is perhaps what is more exciting to a BMW dealer like us at BMW of Asheville, and we think consumers will be equally as excited.  The BMW Concept Active Tourer features a plug-in hybrid engine, which is the first of its kind from BMW.

The plug-in hybrid engine combines an electric motor with a 1.5-liter engine.  This combination allows the BMW Concept Active Tourer to travel using only electric power for short distances on a charged battery.  After this power is utilized, the vehicle's traditional gasoline powered engine kicks in and the car works just like the other BMW models currently on our BMW car dealer lot.

As a BMW dealer, we at BMW of Asheville are extremely excited about this new technology found in the BMW Concept Active Tourer.  We hope that this vehicle, or one similar to it, will make it to the production stage and eventually to our BMW car dealer lot.  We promise to keep you up to date on the details surrounding the development of this concept vehicle and its likelihood to head toward the production stages.  Until then, come visit us at BMW of Asheville, in Fletcher, NC, to test drive the BMW models currently on our dealer lot.
