Thus far, BMW's M line has based almost all of its models on existing BMW models. It's a performance division of the legendary brand that takes the bar up a notch. But M series fans might be happy to hear that the head of the division is looking to take things rogue in the coming years, looking to develop a potential high-end car similar to the SLS AMG supercar. Waynesville 2011 BMW 3 Series drivers can't wait to see what comes out of the M camp in the next few years, as M's head of development Albert Biermann ramps up attempts to bring the M line into the spotlight. All he needs is a solid business case to present to BMW execs, and he'll be well on his way to accomplishing his dream.

While most M cars are built on existing models in the BMW line, there is at least one that was crafted on its own. Hendersonville 2011 BMW drivers very much enjoyed the original M car. According to Automobile Magazine, "To date, the only M-tuned vehicle that wasn't shared with BMW's normal product line was the original M1, which was built from 1978 until 1981. The M1 Homage concept of 2008 paid tribute to the original car, but was nothing more than an official design study. There are no signs that the M1 Homage will be built, although we're hoping M finds a way to craft something bespoke in the near future." That's great news for 2011 BMW 3 Series enthusiasts everywhere, who love the high performance that the M line brings to the mix.

The M division is still following the lead of the BMW brand when it comes to incorporating efficient technology into the driving experience and promoting a greener driving experience. Hendersonville 2011 BMW drivers are watching closely to see how the M division continues to react to new updates in the BMW lineup. If left to their own devices, we'll still expect to see plenty of technology sharing, as well as similar design concepts and features. A BMW wouldn't be a BMW without the luxury we've come to expect.
